Kidneys are organs in the shape of a bean. Their structure consists of medulla and cortex. Cortex surrounds the medulla and has a lighter color. Medulla is made of renal pyramids, which are divided by parts of the cortex, called renal columns. Urine is made in these parts of the kidney and drained to the renal pelvis, ureter, bladder, and urethra.
