Difference threshold is defined as the minimum amount of difference needed between two stimuli in order for it to be noticed half of the time. For us, this is experienced as a `just noticeable difference’, or JND. In Natalia’s case, the colder water and the hotter water are the two stimuli in question, and the feeling of one being slightly hotter is the just noticeable difference.
