Why people came to the UK- pull factors
1)Ease of migration -unlimited migration to those who joined EU in 2004
2)Good exchange rate- good for sending money back to their family.
3)Plenty of jobs and better pay. There was a shortage of certain occupations in the UK such as tradesman especially plumbers.
-Polands population has decreased because so many people have migrated to other countries
-Birth rate has fallen in poland as working/reproductive age have migrated elsewhere, the population has increased in the uk as a result of this.
-The UK economy loses out as money earnt by the polish isn't always spent in the UK.
-The polish economy grows as money is sent back to poland by migrants.
-Migration also has a bad effect on the polish economy as there is a shortage of laborers which means less work can be done so the economy doesn't grow as much.
Migration of working age people into the UK has helped the UKs ageing population problem. These young workers pay tax which relieves strain on pension and services.

UK Government have changed their policy because of the influx of polish migrants. When Romania and Bulgaria joined the EU in 2007 the UK didnt allow unlimited migration like it had for poland
Increased immigration from poland has meant more air traffic between poland and the UK. =contributes to global warming through the release of green house gases.
Why migration to the UK may not be permanent
in 2008 lots of migrants moved back to poland due to:
1) Less work-available in the UK- economy of the UK is shrinking so people are spending less money on things like renovation-no need for as many tradesman.
2)More work-in Poland- economy is growing. Learn skills in the UK and then take them home for work
3)Less favorable exchange rate
