1)Rising cost of living in the UK-shopping,fuel and electricity are becoming more expensive but wages arent rising at the same rate

1)Lower cost of living so people have money to spend on other things.
2) Spain has a hot, dry and less changable climate then the UK.
How UK and spain have become interlinked?
1) Increased budget air travel from companies like easy jet mean people can afford to visit family and friends they've left in the UK.
2) Improved connections such as cheap telephone calls and use of the internet means people keep close contact when they're living far away
Increased proportion of elderly in spain and reduced in england as most peolpe retiring are over 65.
-Increased jobs in spain ie. more nurses to help elderly who often have complex health needs.
-Retired often have savings to spend- known as the grey pound, this helps boost spanish economy however the Uk economy misses out
-Unknown whether or not the spanish healthcare system will be able to cope with the demands of increased elderly healthcare needs.
-Many UK residents in the UK are actually part time and generally return home often. This increased air travel releases co2 emissions
-It is common for english people in spain to set up communities with british run shops, some dont speak english so dont interact with local communities. Known as enclaves. This can cause tensions.
-Local elections in spain are influenced by UK migrants - they have the right to vote, many standing as candidates in local elections. EG) 100 UK immigrants stood as candidates in 2007 elections.
