Enzymes, respiration and photosynthesis
Terms in this set (25)
What are enzymes made of?
Do enzymes speed up or slow down reactions
What can't lipase break down
What does lipase break down
Large fatty acids
Why might the enzyme be faulty if the dna is copied incorrectly into the mRNA
Because it would not work if it is not with its base pairs
What is the base pair for T
What is the base pair for G
If G and T went together, what would happen
It would not work and it would cause a mutation
What is the optimum temperature in the human body
37.5 degrees Celsius
Where is pancreatic
The small intestine
What enzyme breaks down protein, and what does it break down too
Protease, amino acids
What breaks down carbohydrates, and what does it break down too
Carbohydrase, simple sugars
What breaks down lipids, and what does it break down too
Lipaze, fatty acids
What breaks down starch, and what does it break down too
What is the word equation for respiration
Glucose+oxygen to water+carbon dioxide+energy
What is respiration?
Respiration is the glucose resting with oxygen to release an energy
What is a persons respiratory rate
The number of breaths you take per minute.
What is the natural respiration rate
What does aerobic respiration involve
The use of oxygen
Where does respiration take place
In the mitochondria of a cell
How do you respire without oxygen
During oxygen your muscles need to transfer more energy than a normal when they contract. Your heart and breathing rate increase to provide your cells with enough glucose and oxygen for respiration to increase. However, during strenuous exercise, your heart rate cannot increase fast enough to meet the demand.
What is a word equation that summarises the series of chemical reactions that occur during anaerobic respiration
Glucose to lactic acid
What is anaerobic respiration?
Respiration without oxygen
Does anaerobic respiration release more energy than aerobic respiration
What is photosynthesis?
A chemical reaction by which producers make food- carbon dioxide and water react to form glucose and oxygen
