What was Hitler granted in 1933?

He was granted the enabling acts in 1933 which allowed him to act without parliamentary consent; essentially giving him almost unlimited power over country matters.

What was The Gestapo?

The Gestapo was an abbreviation of the Russian for 'secret state police', which was created in 1933. The Gestapo ruthlessly eliminated opposition to the Nazis within Germany and its occupied territories and, in partnership with the Sicherheitsdienst (SD: "Security Service"), was responsible for the roundup of Jews throughout Europe for deportation to extermination camps.

What was the SD responsible for?

It was responsible for discovering 'enemies of the state'. In reality, however, there were 15,000 members for over 80 million people which suggests that, like in 1984, paranoia played a large part in control over the population as well as everyday citizens handing each other in.
