Berlin= used as an opportunity for political propaganda for the third Reich. Used to showcase the Nazi party. Used to show the efficiency of Germany at the time under Nazi control e.g. completing stadium on time.
Mexico City= African American athletes ( Tommy Smith and John Carlos) used medal ceremony to protest about lack of civil rights in the USA. Protest was known as the black power salute. Athletes wore gloves and raised hands to symbolise black power
