The-sports section is a great place to examine how statistics are used. For one week follow a team in any sport that is currently in season. Track several team and individual statistics. Do dramatic changes occur in the statistics, or are the changes insignificant? Can you offer any reason for the change or lack of change? Compare your team's statistics with those of a classmate's team. Analyze the validity of the statistics. Do they accurately tell the story, or can statistics deceive us?
