what is located symmetrically on either side of the head and neck?
acute, tender, warm.
wat does infection of the lymph node cause
slowly progressive, firm, multiple nodes involved, stuck together and to underlying structures.
gently walk fingers along general regions and compare the right and left side.
how do you conduct a lymph node exam?
observe facial symmetry, wrinkle forehead, keep eyes closed against resistance, smile and puff out cheeks

- look for focal or symmetric enlargement.

-ask patient to turn their head.
-actively turn head left to right assess function of sternocleidomastoid.
-ask patient to shrug shoulders.
-shrug shoulders into your hands against resistance.

-begins at first movement.
-during movement into operatory.
- observe face and skin.
